In Part 2 of our series on how to set up your salon for holiday success, look outside your typical retail space to encourage holiday shoppers.

Here’s five ways to make your salon the winter wonderland of gift giving:

You Had Me at Hello, and Goodbye The reception desk is holiday headquarters! This is where your clients often pay for services and schedule future appointments and it’s most likely where they are purchasing items from your holiday gift center (we talked about setting that up last week!) Make sure to stock this area with mini must-haves and gift cards within easy reach.  Baby’s Got Backbar Salons, your backbar should be front and center for the holidays! Find creative ways to display items from your holiday gift center here, so you clients will be inspired to window shop while under the rinse or waiting for that treatment to set! Cluster unwrapped and wrapped gift ideas in holiday themed vignettes for ultimate appeal.  Stock the Station Stylists stations are the perfect spot for “My Personal Fave” sets of holiday goodies and limited supply collections being featured in your holiday gift center. Use your computer or enlist the help of a local print shop to create detailed tent cards to highlight faves and the reasons why they’re at the top of that stylist or technician’s holiday wish list.  Primp the Powder Room! Washrooms and changing rooms are private spaces that claim clients undivided attention, so use the space wisely. Make them seasonally cozy and inviting and enlist that backbar “vignette” tactic a tad more intimately as this is the perfect place for a salon touchpoint. If you’re not comfortable placing product in this space, opt for photos of your gift options in seasonal frames to match your salon decor and simple but elegant signage that promotes your salon as the place to find thoughtful gifts for everyone.  Woo Window Shoppers Highlight holiday promotions, services, and products for passersby. Colorful, thoughtful holiday merchandising can attract those who have never come inside before to pick up last-minute presents or gift cards. Those window shoppers may end up being clients!
